Our own New Mexico Jewish Link staff reporter Diane Joy Schmidt recently won a series of prestigious awards. She received a first place award from the American Jewish Press Association’s Simon Rockower Awards Competition for Excellence in Jewish Journalism for her piece What Chanting a Prayer Just Might Do for You, printed in the Summer 2016 issue.
She received two first place honors in the arts and entertainment category for Evelyn Rosenberg and her Explosive Art and Fractured Faiths, ground-breaking and controversial exhibit in the 2017 New Mexico Press Women Communications Contest, and an additional two first place awards in the health category with: Studies on Dementia: Q&A with Dr. Gary Rosenberg and Albuquerque, is it a place where Jews can retire? The latter awards were written with support from the Journalists in Aging Fellowships, a program of New America Media and the Gerontological Society of America, sponsored by the Retirement Research Foundation.
Diane Joy Schmidt was further honored by the Society of Professional Journalists in the Top of the Rockies competition with yet another first place award for her Evelyn Rosenberg profile.
